FAQs
Do I need to use dressing aid (lube) when wearing a zip-front latex jacket?
Focus lubrication on the sleeves. While the body of the jacket is easy to slip into, you must apply a small amount of silicone lube or talcum to the inside of the sleeves. This allows your arms to slide in smoothly, preventing high friction that can stress the shoulder seams and tear the wrist cuffs.
How do I prevent metal zippers, snaps, or buckles on the coat from staining the latex?
Create a protective barrier during storage. Metal causes irreversible chemical stains (usually brown or copper) upon contact with latex. Before storing, wrap all metal hardware (especially those touching the latex) tightly with acid-free tissue paper to prevent direct contact.
Is a latex coat a practical insulator for cold weather?
No. Latex is non-breathable and traps body heat, but it does not provide insulation like wool or down. If worn in cold weather, trapped moisture (sweat) will cool rapidly, making you feel much colder. Latex outerwear is best suited for indoor wear or mild temperatures.
How should I address a jacket or coat that has a decorative fabric lining inside?
Avoid getting the lining wet. When washing or polishing, focus only on the exterior latex shell. Do not fully submerge the item if the lining is fabric. Spot clean the lining if necessary, and ensure both the latex exterior and fabric interior are completely dry before storage.
