Is latex swimwear safe to wear in chlorinated pools or salt water?
Immediate rinsing is critical. While brief exposure is generally fine, chlorine and salt are harsh chemicals that accelerate latex degradation. Rinse the swimwear immediately and thoroughly with cool, clean water the moment you leave the water. Never let it dry with chlorine or salt residue on it.
Should I apply a dressing aid (lube) before wearing latex swimwear?
Yes, lubrication is essential. Even though the item may get wet, a layer of silicone dressing aid or talcum powder is required to safely slide the suit over your hips and bust before it gets wet. Wet latex on dry skin creates extreme friction and causes tears.
What is the best way to clean latex swimwear after use?
Quick and complete wash. Hand wash immediately in lukewarm water using a dedicated latex cleaner or mild soap. Focus on rinsing the interior thoroughly to remove all body oils and any trace of chlorine/salt. Do not soak, and hang to air dry completely away from sunlight.
How should I store latex swimwear when it's not in use during the off-season?
Store individually and keep it dark. Ensure the swimwear is 100% dry and lightly dusted with talc or polished with shiner. Store it separately in an opaque garment bag in a cool, dark place. Never store it near bright windows or lights, as UV exposure causes yellowing.
